Waking up in the morning to find our main sewer drain backed up was not the way I was expecting to start my day. However Mr. Rooter came through big time! Their representative on the phone was a big help, and sent a plumber out right away. The plumber Chad, was incredible. He came in and fixed the problem and it took him perhaps less than an hour. He was here in and incredibly timely fashion and was polite, straight to the point and was all around just amazing. I can’t thank him enough and wanted to emphasize how incredible he was. Thanks Chad and Mr. rooter for all your help!! Service: Sewer repair

When I called to make an appointment the gentleman that answered asked, “how can I make you smile today?” Which I thought was a great greeting, especially having come home from vacation to a leak! He cheered me up! The next morning the lady who called to notify us of our appointment time was also friendly, accommodating and understanding! The plumber, Chad, showed up on time and greeted us very professionally! He was very knowledgeable and super friendly! He took the time to explain every little detail and answered all of our questions patiently and in terms that we could understand. When he diagnosed the problem he gave us all of our options with various price points and never made us feel Obligated to choose any specific option or to even have the work done by him. We went ahead and had the work done by Chad and he did it quickly, carefully, and ensured we were happy with it before he left! He definitely fixed the problem and even went above and beyond with how he treated and in our home! He was very clean and respectful of our property. Never once did he wear his shoes in the house without covers and he even cleaned my bathtub after he was done working on it. We have nothing bad to say about him he is fantastic all around! I will definitely call him back specifically To have work done! I have to say, both Mr. Rooter and their sister company Birnie Plumbing and Drains have fantastic employees and work ethic! Thanks again Chad! Services: Plumbing leak repair, Plumbing leak detection

You can experience a dripping faucet caused by worn parts like valve seats and washers after overtightening your faucet when turning it off, alongside mineral build-up. Exceeding the PSI pressure reading set by your municipality’s utility supplier can affect the water flow of our pipes, causing water to leak out our faucets. If you’re experiencing leaks around the base of your faucet, the packing nuts and adjusting rings could be to blame – they can come loose over time and require tightening. When some homeowners install their own faucets, they don’t do it properly, which can result in leaks that licensed and insured plumbers must repair.
-
If you’ve been performing maintenance or inspections around your primary water shutoff valves, check to ensure they’re fully open since partial closure may cause low water pressure. As soon as you notice low water pressure and spluttering from your faucets, hire a plumbing service professional to diagnose and repair a possible pipe blockage. When your water starts to shift between high and low pressure with very little transition time, the issue could be your pressure regulator, which you may need to repair or replace. Leaks can cause water pressure drops, so after ruling out other causes, check your property for excess water and contact a trusted plumber.
-
A slow-draining sink can have many causes, which is why calling a trusted plumber is a good idea when they have the experience to diagnose and repair it. Use a 50/50 mixture of baking soda and vinegar in your sink to try to solve slow drainage caused by grease or soap scum. Plumbing snakes can be helpful for resolving frustrating slow-draining sinks – you can insert them into your drains to remove clogs caused by hair and other materials. A P-trap beneath your sink can accumulate debris washed down from the sink, which is a common reason for slow drainage, but it’s easy to clean.
-
Regularly scheduled maintenance, like drain cleaning and water heating flushing are effective ways to prevent plumbing leaks because you can identify and rectify possible future problems before they become issues. It can be easy to damage pipes and cause leaks by washing inappropriate materials like grease and paper products down your drains, so be mindful of what enters your plumbing system to keep it healthy. Knowing that high water pressure can cause pipe damage and leaks, monitor your water pressure or ask your plumber to install a water pressure regulator. Don’t underestimate the importance of insulating, covering, or protecting any exposed pipes in and around your home during winter to prevent bursting or leaking.
-
If you notice a foul smell coming from your drain, don’t hesitate to call a trusted plumber as they have the expertise to quickly identify and fix the problem. Clogged drains are among the leading causes of foul odours in drains because they can be an ideal breeding ground for bacteria that multiply and produce awful-smelling waste. If your sink has a clog or isn’t used very much, the P-trap that typically fills with water can dry out, resulting in sewer gas entering your home and creating an awful sulphur smell. If there’s a bad smell coming from your sink, inspect your garburator – built-up food residue and bacteria on the blades are often to blame.
-
If your household size and usage demands outstrip the size of your water heater and how much hot water it can heat and produce, some people will only get lukewarm or cold water! When the water from your water heater is only lukewarm, check the thermostat to ensure it’s set to around 55°C — but no higher than 60°C to prevent a burn risk. Contact your local plumber since a lack of hot water from an older water heater may point to a broken heating element, gas valve, or thermostat. If your water heater was manufactured before 1997, you can have a failed dip tube that causes cold water to enter your pipes, rather than hot water.
-
Talk to a trusted plumber about possible leaks in faucets, pipes, and fixtures since they can be a common cause of high water bills. When facing high water bills, pay attention to how your outdoor irrigation system is established since they can be common causes of water wastage and high water bills. Thoroughly inspect your home’s water-using appliances, such as water heaters, ice makers, and dishwashers, since they can be common causes of high water bills when not working well. Leaky toilets can be inconspicuous, but a silent leak in your toilet tank could be contributing to hundreds of litres of water wasted every day.
-
- Turn off water and electricity: Turning off the water and electricity is the most important action to take when experiencing a burst pipe since electricity and water don’t mix!
- Contact a plumber: A burst pipe is best left in the capable hands of experts, so contact your local plumber for help as soon as possible.
- Clean up the water: Once the power and water are turned off, start cleaning up standing water with towels, buckets, and mops unless it contains sewage.
- Document the damage: If you have insurance to cover the costs associated with your burst pipe, write a detailed list of your losses and take photos and videos.
-
Overflow tubes that are too short can sometimes be to blame for water continuously flowing into your toilet tank, so consider replacing the flush valve. There’s a chance your toilet could be overfilling because the float is faulty and no longer telling the fill valve to stop filling the tank once it has filled. Inspect the rubber component in the base of your toilet tank, known as the flapper, since it can wear out and cause water to escape and leak. Look closely at the float arm in your toilet tank — if it’s bent, it may require adjustment or replacement to stop water from running continuously.
-
When you’re shutting off the water supply to your house with your indoor valve, do it quickly by turning it clockwise without the need for tools. Many outdoor water meter boxes have security bolts, so if you need to turn your water off, use a pentagon socket wrench to access your water valve. If you have an outdoor water meter box housing your water valve, you may need a meter key to unlock it or a pair of pliers to turn the bolt. Contact your local plumber for help if you need to turn off the water to your property but are having trouble locating your water valve or turning it off.
