  • I had a serious plumbing issue and from the moment the technicians walked into my house I experienced amazing service. Victoria the underground specialist and Omid the supervisor were outstanding. They walked me through everything and explained everything day by day. The workers who did the digging and removal and replacement of the pipes were prompt, hardworking and polite people. The job was extremely messy and dirty but they left my property looking like nothing had ever been touched!! They removed all waste and put everything back where it belonged. Victoria and Omid were so kind and always smiling! Shout out to Owen who also came in and checked other issues I was having. I think Mr Rooter not only hires knowledgeable experienced people but they were also happy and patient. I would not hesitate to use and recommend this company again.

  • This is the second time I have used Mr Rooter and it will not be the last. A team showed up to excavate and fix the pipes going out from my property to the city line. They were very clear on what needed to be done and delivered on budget and in time. I was surprised that it was all done in one day. The team periodically showed me what was going on, cut and dug a 7 foot trench in my driveway, excavated the basement concrete, laid new pipes and stops and it was all done in a day. The team was friendly and professional and were very hard workers. They never stopped working all day. Look no further for their services. The team took care of all the permits needed by the city and this was a completely hands off service. Fantastic. Thank you Michael and team.

If you have any questions about our plumbing services, contact Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Scarborough, Ontario and speak to our friendly plumbers. Find additional information about Mr. Rooter Plumbing® and our service offerings by reading our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’.

  • Dripping faucets can become a problem caused by mineral build-up and overtightening, often leading to wear and tear on parts like valve seats and washers. You can experience leaking faucets when the water pressure exceeds the PSI set by your utility supplier, causing water flow issues in the pipes, which can then cause leaky faucets. Loose parts can be a common cause of leaky taps, especially the adjusting ring or packing nut, when leaks are happening near your faucet’s base. As competent as you think you are with faucet installation, leave this job to trained plumbers when you learn that improper installation can cause leaks.

  • If you’re experiencing low water pressure, check that your primary water shutoff valves are open, as partial closure from inspections or maintenance can affect water pressure. Blockages in pipes can cause low water pressure, so call a licensed and insured service professional to fix it to reduce the risk of burst pipes and damage. Discuss a broken pressure regulator with your preferred plumber if you’ve noticed that your water pressure is changing without much transition time. Pipe leaks can be the cause of low water pressure, so check your property for unusual wet spots and contact a trusted plumber.

  • You don’t have to deal with the hassle of a slow-draining sink — contact a plumber you trust for help. Common household ingredients like baking soda and vinegar can be effective for fixing slow-draining sinks when the cause is soap scum or grease. When facing clogs in your sink that are causing it to drain slowly, insert a plumbing snake into your drain that can catch onto problematic clogs and pull them out. A blocked P-trap, filled with debris washed down your sink, is a frequent cause of slow drainage but you or a trusted plumber can clean it out easily.

  • Water heater flushing, drain cleaning, and other preventative maintenance tasks with a trusted plumber are easy ways to prevent problematic leaks. For healthy, damage-free pipes, be mindful of what you should avoid putting down your drains, such as cooking grease, coffee grounds, eggshells, and paper products. If you think you have high water pressure, check it often or install a water pressure regulator in case it leads to pipe damage and leaks. Prevent your pipes from bursting or leaking in the next cold Canadian winter by covering, insulating, or protecting exposed pipes that have the potential to freeze.

  • You don’t have to diagnose the cause of a foul odour in your sink yourself; reach out to expert plumbers in your area to do it for you. Drain clogs are one of the most common causes of unpleasant smells coming from your sink because bacteria can treat the clogs as breeding grounds, living off them and producing awful-smelling waste. If your home has a sink you don’t use often, its P-trap can dry out, let sewer gases into your home, and produce sewer-like smells. The cause of foul smells in and around your sink could be caused by rotting food and bacteria within your garburator.

  • Supply and demand can come into play with water heaters, in which there is too much demand for hot water, and a limited supply, which means some people only get lukewarm water. If your hot water isn’t hot enough for your liking, check your water heater’s thermostat and set it to around 55°C — but not any hotter than 60°C to avoid burns. When older water heaters stop producing hot water, it could have a broken or failing component, like a heating element, gas valve, or thermostat, that you should call a plumber to replace. If your water heater was made before 1997, a lack of hot water may point to a broken dip tube, which means water is entering your pipes before it’s heated.

  • Something as simple as a leaking fixture, a faucet, or a pipe may cause your water bill to be unusually high, so contact a plumber to diagnose the issue. Check your outdoor irrigation system’s settings since they can use too much water and have wasteful runoff when not appropriately set up for your property. Check your dishwasher, water heater, ice maker, or other water-using appliances since even the most convenient and straightforward appliances can cause water wastage when malfunctioning. As unnoticeable as a toilet leak can be, they are certainly noticeable on a water bill since toilet tanks unnecessarily refilling can waste hundreds of litres daily.

    • Turn off water and electricity: Turning off the electricity and water to your property is crucial for creating a safe environment after a pipe bursts.
    • Contact a plumber: Burst pipes require the experience of plumbers, so contact your local trusted expert for help as soon as possible.
    • Clean up the water: Clean up the standing water with buckets, towels, and mops when your water and power are turned off and you’re sure it doesn’t contain sewage.
    • Document the damage: Knowing that a burst pipe can cause a lot of damage, write down a list of your losses and take photos and video footage of the damage to give to your insurance company.

  • Water can continuously flow into a toilet tank and out of the overflow tube when the overflow tube is too short — replacing your flush valve can solve the problem. If your toilet’s float is faulty, it may no longer be telling your fill valve that the toilet tank is full, leading to it overfilling. When there are no problems with your toilet’s water levels, check the flapper at the toilet tank base, which may be worn out, causing a leak. Inspect the float arm attached to your toilet’s float, as this thin piece of metal can sometimes become bent and contribute to your toilet continuing to fill with water.

  • If you have a water valve inside your home that’s easy to access, you can turn off the water supply without tools by turning the valve in the clockwise position. Underground water meter boxes containing water valves are commonplace on properties – obtain a pentagon socket wrench to remove the security bolt that keeps it closed. Pay attention to the closure system of your outdoor water meter box since you may need a pair of pliers or a meter key to open it so you can turn off the water. If you need to turn off the water supply to your home but can’t find the valve or turn it off, contact a trusted plumber in your area.
