  • Waking up in the morning to find our main sewer drain backed up was not the way I was expecting to start my day. However Mr. Rooter came through big time! Their representative on the phone was a big help, and sent a plumber out right away. The plumber Chad, was incredible. He came in and fixed the problem and it took him perhaps less than an hour. He was here in and incredibly timely fashion and was polite, straight to the point and was all around just amazing. I can’t thank him enough and wanted to emphasize how incredible he was. Thanks Chad and Mr. rooter for all your help!! Service: Sewer repair

  • When I called to make an appointment the gentleman that answered asked, “how can I make you smile today?” Which I thought was a great greeting, especially having come home from vacation to a leak! He cheered me up! The next morning the lady who called to notify us of our appointment time was also friendly, accommodating and understanding! The plumber, Chad, showed up on time and greeted us very professionally! He was very knowledgeable and super friendly! He took the time to explain every little detail and answered all of our questions patiently and in terms that we could understand. When he diagnosed the problem he gave us all of our options with various price points and never made us feel Obligated to choose any specific option or to even have the work done by him. We went ahead and had the work done by Chad and he did it quickly, carefully, and ensured we were happy with it before he left! He definitely fixed the problem and even went above and beyond with how he treated and in our home! He was very clean and respectful of our property. Never once did he wear his shoes in the house without covers and he even cleaned my bathtub after he was done working on it. We have nothing bad to say about him he is fantastic all around! I will definitely call him back specifically To have work done! I have to say, both Mr. Rooter and their sister company Birnie Plumbing and Drains have fantastic employees and work ethic! Thanks again Chad! Services: Plumbing leak repair, Plumbing leak detection

Frequently Asked Questions About Plumbing in Milton, Ontario

Our reputable plumbers at Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Milton, Ontario are here to answer your plumbing-related questions and help you make informed decisions. We’ve provided the answers to some of our most commonly asked questions below so you can make an informed decision.

  • Damaged and worn parts are among the leading causes of dripping faucets, including valve seats and washers from turning faucets tighter as well as mineral build-up in our water. Water can leak out of your faucets if water flow in your pipes is affected by high water pressure — typically nearing 100 PSI. Tightening and adjusting faucet parts like packing nuts and adjusting rings can be important, as they can often fix faucet leaks that occur around the base of faucets. While you might think you can install a faucet competently, some homeowners do it poorly and cause significant leaks that require plumbers to repair.

  • Check to ensure your primary water shutoff valves are entirely open since partially closed valves from maintenance or inspections can result in water pressure changes. Some cases of low water pressure, followed by spluttering water in your faucets, can be caused by pipe blockages that can lead to burst pipes if professional help isn’t sought. A broken pressure regulator can cause water pressure changes – contact a licensed and insured service professional to repair or replace it. Don’t delay calling a plumber you trust for help if you’ve noticed wet spots on your property and think a leaking pipe could be to blame for your water pressure plummeting.

  • Contact a trusted plumber when you’re dealing with a slow-draining sink because they can offer diagnostic and repair services. If you think your slow-draining sink is caused by a grease or soap scum clog, try to clear it using common household ingredients: baking soda and vinegar. Plumbing snakes, also known as augers, are common plumbing tools that you can insert into your drain and pull out clogs from slow-draining sinks. P-traps can become clogged with debris that washes down the sink, often requiring homeowners or professional plumbers to clean them out.

  • As many plumbing leaks can be due to a lack of maintenance, book regular plumbing maintenance tasks like drain cleaning with a trusted plumber to help prevent them. You can avoid pipe leaks caused by blockages when you don’t wash anything unsuitable down your drains, like grease, coffee grinds, eggshells, or paper products. High water pressure can cause pipe leaks, so if your property is above your city’s average PSI, ask your local plumber to install a water pressure regulator. If you have exposed pipes around your house in Canada, cover, shelter, and insulate them in winter to stop them from leaking or bursting.

  • Contacting trusted plumbers is the best way to find out why a sink smells so bad because they can use tools and experience to diagnose the problem. Clogged drains can be a common source of foul smells in sinks, where bacteria can multiply, generate unpleasant waste, and produce awful smells that only dissipate once the clog is removed. An infrequently used sink can lead to a dry P-trap, which means sewer gases can enter your home and cause a foul sulphur-like smell. Something as simple as a dirty garburator with rotting food and bacteria on its blades can be enough to produce an unpleasant odour in your sink.

  • You can encounter a lack of hot water from your water heater if your household’s hot water needs outstrip supply due to an inadequate tank size. Check the thermostat on your water heater to make sure it’s not too low, but don’t set it higher than 60°C due to the burns risk it can present. Talk to your local plumber about a lack of hot water from your older water heater since you may have a broken thermostat, gas valve, or heating element. Many older pre-1997 water heaters have dip tubes that can fail and cause cold water to enter your pipes before it has had a chance to heat.

  • Spikes in water usage can often be attributed to leaking faucets, fixtures, and pipes, so contact your local plumber without delay to diagnose the problem. If you have an outdoor irrigation system for your lawns and gardens, check that it has been adequately set up for your property and isn’t using too much water, leading to wasteful runoff. If you know that your water-using appliances have been having problems, like ice makers, water heaters, or dishwashers, they can be responsible for excess water use. If your toilet tank is leaking and continuously refilling, it may be wreaking havoc on your water bill since it wastes hundreds of litres of water daily.

    • Turn off water and electricity: When you’ve experienced a burst pipe on your property, turning off your water and electricity supply is the most important action to take.
    • Contact a plumber: Contact a reputable plumber in your area day or night when you’ve experienced a burst water pipe that requires repairs or replacement.
    • Clean up the water: After turning off the water and power to your property, start removing standing water with towels, mops, and buckets unless you suspect it contains sewage.
    • Document the damage: Since burst pipes can cause significant property damage, video the damage, take photos, and write a list of losses for insurance purposes.

  • An overflow tube in your toilet that’s too short can be to blame for a toilet running after flushing, which means you need to replace your flush valve. Toilets can still keep running after you flush them because a faulty float isn’t telling the fill valve when your toilet tank is full, leading to overfilling. When water levels in your toilet are normal, inspect your toilet’s flapper for issues since this rubber component can wear out and cause water to leak and escape. You may be able to solve your problem of a toilet that continues to run by replacing or straightening the float arm in your toilet tank if it’s bent.

  • If you have a water valve inside your home, turn it clockwise to quickly and easily turn off the water supply to your house — often without tools. When turning off the water supply to your home, find the outdoor underground water meter box on your property and open it with a pentagon socket wrench to find the water valve. To access the water valve in your outdoor water meter box to turn it off, you might need a meter key or pliers to unlock it or turn the bolt. When you’ve been struggling to find your house water valve to turn it off, reach out to a trusted plumbing service provider in your area to help.
