A local plumber, turned Good Samaritan, went above and beyond to find the owners of four precious heirlooms he discovered. Mr. Rooter® Plumbing of Mid-Ohio owner Trent Dawson reunited Cherie Kissiar, Connie “Eberling” Keck and Paul Niederstadt with their class rings, which had been missing for decades.

Trent presented the rings to the owners on May 18 at his plumbing shop in Mansfield, Ohio. It was a first time meeting filled with plenty of hugs, laughter and thankful tears.

Trent and his team recovered a total of four class rings over the past few years at various locations in mid-Ohio. Fortunately, they were recently able to locate three of the four owners.

Connie, who graduated from Black River High School and made the trip from Florida to Mansfield, owned the oldest recovered ring, dated 1969. The ring was lost in the late 1970s when one of her friend’s little girls lost it while playing at the former middle school in Sullivan, Ohio.

Cherie Kissiar owned the ring from Mansfield High School dated 1991. It was lost that same year.

Paul Niederstadt, a graduate of Ashland High School in 1989 who now lives in Kentucky, was unable to meet Trent in person but was happy to receive his ring back. His family said the ring was reportedly stolen in 1989.

The recovered rings range in dates from 1969-1991 and come from Ashland, Mansfield, Black River and an unknown high school. All of the known high schools are located in the mid-Ohio area.

Trent is still hoping to find the owner of an unidentified ring from 1972. The ring's school is unknown, but it has a large "F" in the center. It appears to be a women's style, with the initials “K” and “S” on it, with a black stone featuring in the ring's middle. Have a tip to help us out? Send your info to [email protected].
