There are 1001 uses for an empty toilet paper roll. Some uses of the roll are complex and tricky to pull off. The cell phone amplifier is neither complex nor tricky. And it really works! It's a cheap, creative and fun use of a toilet paper roll that will have the kids dancing and singing to their favorite songs in no time.
Supplies Needed:
- One empty toilet paper roll
- Decorations for the outside of the roll (in this demonstration I used creative Duck Tape)
- Box cutter
- Two pencils with erasers
- Two thumbtacks
Step One: Decorate the outside of the toilet paper roll however your heart desires. This is the creative side of the craft. In this demonstration I used a special decorative Duck Tape for a couple of reasons. I used it for sturdiness of the amplifier and because the tape had mustaches on it. Once your roll is decorated and everything is dried (if you used paint or glue) you are ready for Step 2.
Step Two: In this step, place your device next to the roll and mark the ends of the device on the roll lightly with a pen or marker. This will insure you cut the right space out of the roll so that your device will slide into the slot with ease. Using the box cutter, cut the slot for your device.
**Hint** When in doubt, cut less because you can always shave off a little bit if needed.
Step Three: On the back side of the roll place the two thumb tacks on either end. Place them far enough back on the roll so that they will be able to support the weight of the device and keep the device upright.
Step Four: Remove the erasers from the pencils and place on the inside of the roll on the tacks. This will ensure the tacks stay in place and will also protect your device from getting scratched on the sharp points of the tacks.
Step FIve: Your Toilet Paper Roll Amplifier is now ready to be used. Choose your favorite song on the device and insert the device into the amplifier with the speaker inside the tube.
Step Six: Dance and sing your heart out! Enjoy your new music amplifier!
