42years ago Earth Day was started to encourage the world to come together to recognize the need to protect and save our planet. It has evolved in to so much more as we the world has grown smarter and we've learned we must protect our planet.

Earth Day was first recognized in 1970 by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson who hoped that a grassroots movement regarding environmental issues would alert the government to how concerned its citizens actually were about protecting the sustainability of our earth.

The Earth Day Action Center works to recognize and tackle issues such as climate change, conservation and biodiversity, alternate energy, recycling and sustainable development.

There are many ways to get involved every day locally by composting, using mass transit, riding your bike or just plain walking are well as choosing to eat locally and conserving water. Check out www.mrrooter.com for tips on how to use less water in your home.
