I’ve been in my house for 20 years, it was built in 1907, although I love my house the age of it has come with some challenges, there are old growth elm trees along the blvd, so part of maintaining, is cutting back the roots of all the trees that grow into the sewer from the house to the city’s main drain. over the years, I’ve had to have them cut back many times. sometimes being shown “the problem” as being roots stuck in the cutters, that could fit all within a large zip lock bag, also wondering how the technician could possibly be done that quick. this time when I called, Scott and his assistant Proab (sp?) came and went from the north corner where the stack for all 3 washrooms are in the house, to the south (front of house) where the house plumbing goes out to the city line. Scot said the did push out “something” from the plumbing under the floor, but the real problem was out to the city sewer. the stack and where it meets theta drain to the city was at an acute right angle that made it impossible for him to get his 4″ CUTTER blades into the pipe. so he could only maneuver the smaller 2′ CUTTER the 60-75′ to where it meets the large city drain. Which he explained to me that left a 2″ diameter hole carved through a 4″ pipe, not allowing him to send a camera down to see what’s going on. the amount of roots he had dragged back was a massive clump that was about 3 feet long all twisted , cut and torn from the sides of the pipe. I have had this done every 2 to 3 years, & have never seen this amount of blockage….. of course being told this, I instantly went to he’s just trying to sell me the Hydro pressure 4000psi was of eliminating the roots at an extra cost….. Scot was quick to explain, that he can’t get his camera down there with the pipe not cleared of roots and MAYBE he’s the first Honest root rooter guy I’ve had come do the job….all the others had done the easy cut with the small cutter, knowingly leaving the left behind roots to grow in quickly so that I continued to call for the root trim….. mere speculation… to cut a long short short, after talking to my partner we decided to go with the hydro scrub, and Scott & Proab returned the next day to power wash, and show us the final camera footage…. which showed misaligned pipes that most likely from roots allowed to be grown large and moving the pipes, or whatever else over the past 118 years, the city had “fixed” a pipe at some point before I was here, from seeing the footage from Scott, they had replaced a cast iron pipe with a cement pipe right around the city sidewalk is in front of my house, just a guess, but the sidewalk is sunken about 4″ and always pools water where the city turn off valve in on the sidewalk to my house.. thank you Scott for being that honest person who is in fact trying to help the homeowner fix an ongoing problem instead of putting a quick fix of a bandaid and putting the house on his next years agenda. today I’m now waiting for an in line inspector named Jake to assess the situation and talk about the pipe liners you can now get instead of having to dig up the yard to the city pipe….. not many of us can afford to have this happen when you least expect it. we sure can’t either, but the cost sure would be better than having the whole yard overturned to put in a new line of pipes…. Think about it next time you’re sitting on the toilet.

Because every plumbing emergency callout can differ, homeowners and business owners can’t always expect to pay a set flat rate fee for a plumber’s time. What you pay for an emergency plumber depends on factors like how far they have to travel, the materials they need for the job, their regular labour fees, and the timing of the emergency. Most emergency plumbers would be more than happy to give you a rough idea of how much their services will cost so you can plan for it. All plumbing companies charge different rates for plumbing emergencies across various cities, municipalities, and provinces, depending on their costs and demand.
-
A plumbing emergency is a situation in which health hazards, damage, and inconvenience can be caused by something involving your plumbing that requires urgent repair or intervention. Water heater failure, burst and frozen pipes, overflowing toilets, and blocked drains are all emergency plumbing situations you need help with – call a trusted plumbing service professional. Don’t let a plumbing emergency become a health hazard or a damage risk; reach out to an emergency plumber you trust to help. It’s easier than you think to ask for help in a plumbing emergency when many well-established plumbing companies offer 24/7 live answering services.
-
When you’ve encountered a plumbing emergency like a leaking water heater, a damaged pipe, or a blocked drain, it’s a good idea to call a trusted plumbing professional. Many plumbing professionals have a direct line you can contact them on or use a call-answering service so you can contact them day or night for plumbing emergencies. When contacting an emergency plumber, explain the problem over the phone so they can assess the urgency and recommend the best course of action. After calling an emergency plumbing professional for help with a plumbing emergency, you may also need to contact your utility company and insurance company if the plumbing emergency impacts them.
-
When you need an emergency plumber, browse the internet for plumbers near you who have published their contact details, such as a phone number, online. Many well-established plumbing companies publish their contact information in online and paper directories to make it easy for people to find when needed for plumbing emergencies. Find a trusted emergency plumbing service provider by asking friends and family for recommendations. Not all plumbers are emergency plumbers, so look for plumbers who advertise their 24/7 availability to take calls for plumbing emergencies.
-
Avoiding many plumbing emergencies is as straightforward as contacting your local plumbing service provider to inspect your plumbing systems and provide maintenance services where required. You can sidestep plumbing emergencies caused by cold weather by installing insulation on exposed pipes and pipes in attics, basements, and other unheated spaces. Understanding your plumbing system may help you avoid plumbing emergencies and related damage, like knowing where to find your main shut-off valve and how to use it. You can avoid serious plumbing emergencies by not flushing anything damaging down your drain, like grease, oil, feminine products, wipes, and other foreign objects.
-
Identify what the plumbing issue is, such as a leaking water heater or burst pipe, and check for immediate dangers so you can protect your property and its occupants. Taking control in a plumbing emergency is often possible by turning off the main water supply to your home or the localized valve to a particularly problematic appliance or system. Feel less stressed about your home or business plumbing emergency by starting to clean up water with towels, buckets, and containers. Alongside turning the power supply off to the area affected by plumbing damage, call a trusted emergency plumber for safety reasons.
-
Clogged toilets aren’t always plumbing emergencies, but they can quickly become them, and you may need to call an emergency plumber. Overflowing and clogged toilets can rapidly become plumbing emergencies, leading to potential damage in the surrounding parts of your home or business if not addressed quickly. Clogged toilets can result in serious sanitation problems, so the health risks associated with them mean you need to call an emergency plumber. A plumbing emergency service provider may be necessary if your sole toilet is clogged, if you have several toilets blocked, or if you’ve experienced multiple blockages lately.
-
While blocked drains don’t always begin as plumbing emergencies, they can quickly turn into them, which means you’ll need a licensed and insured service professional to help. A blocked drain isn’t always just a random one-off event; it can indicate a more severe emergency issue with main sewer lines and plumbing systems when multiple drains are blocked. Raw sewage and standing water caused by blocked drains can be health hazards, so call an emergency plumbing service professional to visit your property. When drain clogs happen regularly and are a constant source of frustration, call an emergency plumber to address them before they get any worse.
-
Water leaks can happen for many reasons and can worsen, which is why you should contact a trusted emergency plumbing service provider for help. Call your local emergency plumber quickly if you have a water leak with fast-flowing water that has the potential to cause property damage. You definitely have a plumbing emergency on your hands if a water leak is so severe that it impacts your residential or commercial property’s ceiling, flooring, and walls. Contact an emergency plumber without delay if your water leak involves electricity or a crucial plumbing system like your main water line or water heater.
-
Many people choose to tip their local emergency plumber when they appreciate them for their great service, timely arrival, and their willingness to work in challenging conditions. You’re not expected to tip an emergency plumber; you can show your appreciation in several other ways, like writing thank-you notes and recommending them to your family and friends. While emergency plumbers appreciate tips for the emergency services they provide, they don’t expect them or ask for them from their residential and commercial customers.
