Customer Reviews in Summerland, British Columbia

  • Colin came out to see us for a Spetic tank/pump issue. He did absolutely everything he could and managed to avert a disaster. Given the time (late night and dark) and the fact our pump had given up he didn’t go any further as didn’t want to have to charge us for things that were unlikely to make any difference. Once we had the system pumped he came back out to finish the job and went above and beyond cleaning our tank as well. Again did everything he could to help and solve our issue while working hard, being patient with us and polite. New pump on the way and then we will be back up and running. We live outside their zone so there is a travel charge and it has been worth every penny for the service we have received and will 100% be calling back for any future issues.

Frequently Asked Questions About Septic Tank Pumping in Summerland, British Columbia

If you have a question about septic tank pumping or septic tank cleaning, find the answer in our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ content below. Whether you want to learn more about our services or business, contact the team at Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Summerland, British Columbia today.

  • How much you pay for septic tank pumping depends on where your septic tank pump is located and who you have chosen to complete the job. If you have a large septic tank, it’s generally expected that you’ll be paying more to empty it than you would a small one due to housing more waste. Septic tank pumping costs can sometimes be affected by how full your tank is — the more often you have it pumped, the more cost-effective this service may be. The cost of septic tank pumping depends on how far your tank is from the disposal site, how accessible it is, its condition, and whether you require tank inspection services.

  • The time of year you book your septic tank in with your preferred experts for pumping can depend on your unique situation and even the type of septic tank you have. You can set your septic tank pumping timeframe based on influences like garburator use, tank size, family or business size, and even the local climate. While you might only need to pump a large tank every three to five years with a small family, a small tank with a large family might require more frequent pumping, like twice yearly. When you’re unsure how often to pump your septic tank, reach out to a trusted septic tank pumping service provider to ask.

  • You will need to empty your septic tank as soon as possible if you hear gurgling sounds whenever you flush the toilet, have a shower, or use your sink. When septic tanks are full and require professional septic tank pumping, toilets and drains can stop flushing, and sewage can begin backing up into your property. When you notice water pooling in your yard, investigate its cause since it might be raw sewage from an over-full septic tank or a broken pipe. If you’ve noticed unusually lush grass in some patches, talk to your local plumbing service provider about a full or leaking septic tank since raw sewage contains nutrients that can cause excessive growth.

  • Take the time to research different septic tank pumping services near you; it’s worth it to find a team you can really trust. The internet can be an effective tool for finding reputable septic tank pumping services, especially through business directories and search engines where they regularly advertise their services. By asking friends, family, neighbours, and even colleagues, it can be easier to find out who offers reputable septic tank pumping services in your area. Employees at home improvement stores often have knowledge of various trades and business connections and may be willing to suggest septic tank pumping service providers they trust.

  • If your septic tank needs to be pumped, contact a trusted service provider at any time. Frozen and snow-covered grounds and access challenges can often make septic tank pumping challenging in winter, which is why many property owners book their service before or after winter. Summer can be an ideal season for septic tank pumping, but don’t forget to book your service in advance so you can improve your chances of receiving a service time that works for your needs. You can cause a great deal of mess by pumping your septic tank after extreme weather events, so consider delaying your service until abnormal weather has passed.

  • As desirable as pumping your own septic tank can seem to save money, the need for experience and specialized pumping equipment means it’s not recommended. Hiring septic tank pumping professionals is best because they wear the necessary safety equipment and use vacuum trucks, large hoses, and pumps to complete the job properly. You can benefit from years of industry experience and knowledge when you hire septic tank pumping experts, such as the best waste disposal practices and specific septic system information. There can be rules and regulations surrounding septic tank pumping in Canada, with each province setting different timeframes and some municipalities even requiring proof with invoices and receipts.

  • If you own a traditional septic system with a tank and drain field, which is a standard wastewater treatment option in Canada, you’ll need to perform routine septic tank pumping. If you have a chamber septic system with a leaching chamber and specialized dispersal area, you still need to prioritize septic tank pumping just as you would with a traditional system. Many small lot owners in Canada have advanced secondary septic systems that, while quite advanced, still need filter renewals, general repairs, and septic tank pumping. Everyone’s septic system is different, so don’t be afraid to talk to a trusted septic tank business professional if you’re unsure whether you need to schedule routine septic tank pumping.

  • In the areas of Canada where municipal sewers aren’t available, such as rural locations, property owners have septic systems that are designed to take care of wastewater on their properties. Septic systems work by collecting your home’s wastewater, retaining the solids, removing any wastewater pollutants, and distributing treated effluent to the environment. The wastewater entering your septic system from your main drainage pipe consists of greywater — water from sinks, dishwashers, showers, and washing machines and blackwater — wastewater from your toilet. Septic systems do a great job of treating wastewater and removing impurities like bacteria before it becomes groundwater and eventually enters rivers, lakes, and streams.

  • If you don’t empty your septic tank with the help of a septic tank pumping service provider, you are at risk of experiencing blockages and overflowing sewage on your property. Bacteria, viruses, and protozoa can all enter your groundwater and soil and contaminate it when you let your septic tank get full and overflow onto your property. Septic system failure is a risk of not emptying your septic tank frequently as it results in less room for your wastewater and increases the chances of your system not operating as it should. Don’t ignore a foul smell on your property, as it may be coming from an over-full septic tank that you haven’t emptied, leading to possible issues you need to address.

  • Septic tank lids can be easy to spot because they are black or green plastic and 60 cm wide, but they can also be made of concrete. Many property diagrams provided to new property owners highlight the location of the septic system, so refer to your diagram to see if that’s the case. Insert a metal probe into the ground at regular intervals to potentially find a septic tank lid hidden under soil and grass. When you think you’ve tried everything to find your septic tank lid and haven’t had any luck, contact a septic tank pumping business with special equipment to find hidden lids.
