  • Update: The owner, Dino has now reached out to me to address my concerns. Dino was polite and contrite and displayed genuine interest in making things right. Being a small business owner myself, I respect how he has handled this now. For the most part, I was quite pleased with Devon and the other fellow who came to install the new garbage disposal, even though they appeared to be in a hurry. I was less pleased that I had to take off the dishwasher drain hose and tap the plug out myself. I paid full price for this but the job was not completed before they rushed off. Subsequently, the owner contacted me and I am pleased with how he has handled my concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions About Water Heater Repair & Replacement in St Andrews, Manitoba

Below, we’ve provided answers to some of our more frequently asked questions about water heater repair and replacement. Contact us directly for more information about Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in St Andrews, Manitoba and our services.

  • As tempting as it can be to repair your own water heater, it’s a job best left in the capable hands of plumbing service providers with water heater experience. Reach out to a licensed and insured plumbing service provider for water heater repairs so you can feel confident in a job well done every time. Reading online reviews or asking a loved one for a recommendation may be enough to make you feel confident that you’ve chosen a trusted water heater repair expert. A reliable and helpful choice for a broken water heater is a licensed and insured service provider who stands behind their parts and workmanship with guarantees.

  • When water heaters aren’t producing hot water, try to diagnose and solve the problem by checking the thermostat, confirming a power supply, and inspecting the heating elements before calling a service professional for help. Talk to your local plumbing service provider about total water heater replacement or repairs for a water heater leak caused by a loose connection, rust, or a malfunctioning pressure relief valve. If your water heater is making strange noises due to sediment buildup, water heater repairs can be as straightforward as a tank flush to remove that sediment. Water heater repairs, replacement, and general maintenance are best left to trained service professionals who know how to perform these tasks to a high standard.

  • Refer to your water heater’s manufacturing label to learn its age since water heaters that are older than 8-12 years old aren’t always cost-effective to fix. Water heater replacement is a more suitable option than water heater repairs when those repairs cost at least half of a new unit in the last 12 months. Water heater replacement is more worthwhile than repairs when you’ve already spent time and money repairing it, and you expect more of the same. Take your time and think about your water heater’s current efficiency and performance so you can learn whether repairs or total replacement is more worthwhile.

  • When rust or damage is responsible for your water heater leaking, total replacement is a far more recommended option than repairs for longevity and cost-effectiveness. Always check the connections on your water heater’s inlet and outlet pipes if you believe it’s leaking from pipes and fittings before contacting a service professional for help. A failed pressure relief valve that’s leaking in a water heater is straightforward for a trained service professional to repair by replacing the broken part. Water leaks coming from your water heater’s drain valve often relate to a valve that’s not fully closed or one with a broken plastic valve or a worn rubber gasket.

  • Repair costs can be determined by the age and condition of water heaters, with newer, more well-maintained water heaters often costing less to fix. Repair costs for your water heater can also depend on the type you have, such as a gas, electric, tank, or tankless model. As water heaters can have different problems, like sediment buildup, broken heating elements and thermostats, and leaks, there is usually no ‘average’ repair cost available. Where you live can contribute to the overall costs of water heater repairs since labour costs can differ depending on your town, city, or region.

  • Your preferred type of water heater, such as a tank, tankless, electric, or gas model contributes to the total costs of replacing your water heater. You pay more or less to replace your water heater depending on whether you choose a large or small tank or a high or low flow rate. Factors like installation complexity, where you live, your preferred service professionals, and the need for permits all contribute to your overall water heater replacement costs. Contacting a water heater expert for a job estimate is the best way to get an accurate idea of how much water heater replacement costs.

  • When your water heater is expensive to run due to its age and lack of efficiency, you should explore your replacement options now. Start shopping for a new water heater if your repair bill equals or exceeds half the cost of a new one in the past year. Don’t delay contacting a trusted service professional if your water heater has started to leak and go rusty — replacement is necessary sooner than you think! There are many sound reasons to explore water heater replacement, like wishing to benefit from advanced water heater tech, sediment buildup, and your water heater no longer being fit for purpose.

  • Installation processes vary for different water heater models, which means your chosen water heater impacts the replacement timeline with your preferred plumbing service provider. If you need to install new plumbing connections or repair or replace those already in place, these factors contribute to water heater replacement timeframes. If a plumbing service provider needs to install a new gas line or modify a water heater to remove it, replacing your water heater may take longer than average. When your water heater service professional has a straightforward water heater removal and installation, they will only be at your property for a few hours.

  • Depending on its model, the average lifespan of a water heater impacts how frequently most homeowners and business owners replace their water heaters. If you have a traditional tank water heater, you can generally expect it to perform well for 8-12 years, while a high-efficiency model may perform for up to 15 years. It’s not uncommon for a tankless water heater to last 15-20 years when it has been installed by a trusted expert and has been well-maintained over its lifetime. If you have water quality or performance problems or don’t maintain your water heater, there’s a chance it won’t last as long as the average expected lifespan.

  • House buyers can be prepared to pay more for properties that have been upgraded and modernized to include high-efficiency water heaters with the best technologies. Home buyers viewing various homes may see some properties as more well-maintained and looked after if the current owners have prioritized upgrades like water heaters. The return on investment for a water heater may be higher if property owners combine this purchase with others like new appliances or a complete kitchen or bathroom remodel. A water heater upgrade is just one of many factors that contribute to a house’s value; general market conditions in specific areas also significantly factor into it.
