Don’t Let Canada Day Celebrations Leave Behind Fireworks!

Vancouver, B.C. (June 12, 2009) – While our country celebrates another birthday make sure your plumbing is up for the party. As people gather for barbecues and parties, follow these steps to prepare for the added use.

“The next time you invite over a crowd ensure your plumbing is being taken care of,” says Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of Mr. Rooter Corporation. “Nothing puts a damper on a party faster than plumbing problems.”

Mr. Rooter service professionals suggest these steps to prevent extra strain on your kitchen:

· Try to prevent anything but liquid being poured down the drain.
· Scrape off plates into the garbage to prevent extra food in the dishwasher clogging the discharge lines.
· Only put small items down the garbage disposal to prevent it from jamming.
· Place a cupful of ice cubes as well as citrus peels in the disposal, turn on cold water and disposal for 15 to 30 seconds, then turn off the disposal and continue to rinse with cold water for 15 more seconds.
· In case of emergency, make sure you know where your water shut off valve is.
